- Live Park, Rishon Lezion, Israel
The one-time star of successful hip hop American group the Fugees returns to Israel May 7, 2015 for a show in Rishon Lezion’s Live Park Amphitheater.
Hill rose to stardom in 1996 with the release of the Fugees cover of Roberta Flack’s “Killing me softly” and their album The Score, which sold millions of copies and became one of the best selling hip hop albums of all time. Hill followed up the success of The Score with her critically-acclaimed solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The album earned her numerous awards and went on to sell over 18 million copies worldwide.
However, following the success of her debut, Hill’s career went downhill, and she eventually dropped out of the public eye after 1999 before resurfacing with sporadic live performances and studio recordings in 2004.
Her last show in Israel was in 2007 and garnered some lukewarm reviews, but her upcoming 2015 summer show is almost definitely worth checking out for a chance to see a generational talent. If you still have doubts about Lauryn Hill’s ability to perform check out the video in our slideshow of her and the Fugees killing it at the Apollo Theater in 1996.
