This meaningful tour takes you through the history and highlights of Jerusalem’s Old City and gives you a special chance to visit the birthplace of Christianity.
Tours from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem typically require an early start, and this one is no exception, as the tour provider arranges for participants to be picked up at any of the major hotels in Tel Aviv (7:15 a.m.), Herzliya (7:00 a.m.) and Netanya (6:30 a.m.) before heading to Jerusalem to begin the day at the Mount of Olives with a breathtaking view of the Old City.
From the Mount of Olives, you’ll head to the Zion Gate through thte Kidron Valley, passing along the way the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations and tombs of the Jewish kings. Once through the gate, you’ll walk through the Armenian Quarter, Byzantine Cardo and Jewish Quarter to reach one of the highlights of your tour, the Western Wall, one of the most sacred places of Judaism.
On the next segment of the tour, you’ll walk in the final steps of Jesus along the Via Dolorosa — the way of Sorrows — stopping at several Stations of the Cross on your way to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the most sacred Christian places, and the site where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected. You’ll have the chance to stroll through the bazaar-lined corridors of the Old City before embarking on the short trip to Bethlehem, where you’ll see the Church of the Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus, as well as the Church of St. Catherine, the Milk Grotto and Shepherds Fields.
