- HaYarkon Park, Tel Aviv
The Tel Aviv Marathon, sponsored by Samsung, will kick off its 20th edition this year on February 26, 2016 as tens of thousands of runners from around the world descend on the White City to soak up its charms and beautiful surroundings while competing in the 42-kilometer (26-mile) race and take part in its various other courses.
The multi-course race starts in HaYarkon Park and follows a scenic route through the city and along Tel Aviv’s Mediterranean shores before finishing back in the park. In addition to the full marathon, participants also have the choice of doing half marathon, 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer courses. There will also be a mini-marathon for kids and a 42-kilometer hand-cycle race for people with disabilities.
Last year’s race attracted some 35,000 runners from Israel and many other countries, and this year’s event is expected to be bigger than ever. We’ll update the schedule as the information becomes available, but in the meantime, check out what went down at the 2016 marathon…
