Located just next to the “Carmel Market” is the Nahalat Binyamin street, home to the biggest and most popular art and craft fair in Israel.
Every Tuesday and Friday this street turns into a lively colorful spot for happy, creative people with more than 200 different artists displaying their crafts, all original and hand-made works ranging from painted ceramics, to special toys, to paintings and photographs to all kinds of little intricate pieces.
There’s something here for everyone, and you don’t necessarily have to buy in order to “get the feel” of this special market, as it attracts all sorts of street performers, musicians and cheerful characters.
Nahalat Binyamin is also the name of the neighborhood built around this street. It was founded in 1909 by a group of 40 people, most of whom were tradesmen, before the city of Tel Aviv was even born.
Strolling along the street with its fashionable boutique cafes, Bauhaus and Art Nouveau architecture and nostalgic little shops would also give you a glimpse as to what you’re looking for.
