- Hilton Beach, Tel Aviv-Yafo
Located just below Gan Ha’atsmaut and the Hilton hotel and recognizable by its iconic, rainbow-colored shade structures, Hilton Beach is Tel Aviv’s official unofficial gay beach, ranked the #1 gay beach in the world by GayCities.com and formerly the home of the official Gay Pride Parade party.
While it’s most famous for being the city’s gay beach, it is also popular among dog-owners and surfers, as the northern part of the beach is one of the few spots on the coastline where dogs are allowed and the southern end is home to a patch of reef that creates great waves for surfing, with a number of surf shops and schools nearby.
Along the Shlomo Lahat Promenade just below Gan Ha’atsmaut and the Hilton Hotel, where they meet Alorzorov and Jabotinsky Streets.
Bus and Sherut line #4 both run along Ben Yehuda Street, parallel to the beach and promenade. It’s a 2-minute walk if you get out at Alorzorov or Jabotinsky Streets.
There is a Tel-O-Fun bike rental station just south at the Tel Aviv Marina and just north at 12 Namal Tel Aviv Street.
You can go to the beach whenever you want, but there are only lifeguards on duty during certain hours, which vary by season.
Winter (October-April): No lifeguard
Summer (May-October): Sun-Sat from 7:45 am to sundown
