Tel Aviv Pride is hands-down the most electrifying event of the year in the White City, drawing over 100,000 people total and thousands of visitors from around the world.
The city broke records in 2015 with 120,000 people just at the parade alone and over 180,000 total throughout Pride festivities, including 30,000 tourists. You may notice an emerging trend here that the beach is the place to stay, and that’s because it just is. Located near the Tel Aviv Port, the stylish and modern, all-suite Alexander Hotel is one of the best known LGBTQ-friendly hotels in the city.
The Alexander Hotel has some of the most luxurious rooms and facilities in the city, including a spa and wellness center and a rooftop bar that will have you set up for breathtaking sunsets every night.
Meanwhile, the location couldn’t be better for those who want to get away from the main tourist drag hotels, but still be in the thick of things just a few minutes walk from the nightlife, shopping and dining of Dizengoff Street and the Tel Aviv Port.
Last year, the hotel offered a special Gay Pride Week package that included special rates, complimentary drinks at the bar and special fitness activities to keep you in shape during the festivities. Stay tuned for information on this year’s promotions.
Abraham Hostel Tel Aviv
While perhaps the most “alternative” selection on this list, if you can’t afford the pricey boutiques (or maybe just miss your youthful backpacker days), the recently opened Abraham Hostel Tel Aviv is definitely worth a shot.
While it doesn’t cater specifically to the gay community, the atmosphere there is incredibly open and represents everything Tel Aviv is all about thanks to a diverse staff and clientele from all over the world. It also has a pretty wide range of accommodation choices, including dorm rooms of all shapes and sizes, double rooms, group rooms and apartments.
What really takes center stage at the Abraham Hostel, though, is the communal environment — a lively bar, events (parties, concerts, workshops, dinners, etc.) every night, affordable tours, a staff that’s interested in getting to know guests, travelers that are there to have fun and meet new people and so on.
While it’s not on the beach, the hostel is in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the Carmel Market and Rothschild Boulevard, and public transportation and shared taxis stop practically right out the door and can get you to the beach, the port or Dizengoff Street in just a few minutes.
Atlas Hotels
The Atlas Boutique Hotels group operates numerous properties throughout the city that have become quite popular with the LGBTQ community. Each hotel has a different theme, but the same high room and facilities standards.
For instance, the Cinema Hotel is housed in an old movie theater and its decorations are an homage to vintage Israeli and international film; Shalom and Relax Hotel is modeled after a Connecticut beach house; and the Melody Hotel has a music theme.
Pink House Tel Aviv
Pink House is a unique LGBTQ-friendly establishment in that it was opened specifically to cater to the LGBTQ community and offers a wide variety of accommodation options.
Whether you’re looking for a luxury vacation rental, B&B-style accommodation or even budget dorm rooms, Pink House has something for you with an amazing location just a short walk from some of the best nightlife (gay and otherwise) and restaurants on the beach and in the Carmel Market area.
