Papito is the quintessential Tel Aviv neighborhood bar. It’s warm and cozy, has a dedicated regular crowd comprised mainly of sophisticated professionals, a simple, yet delectable menu and plenty of quality booze at shockingly affordable prices — and it’s always open until the last customer.
The menu is decidedly continental European-inspired with a main course selection comprised of a few different takes on homemade bratwurst with saurkraut and bacon, a Viennese pork schnitzel, spare ribs and a pork fillet with creamy Dijon mustard sauce. If you’re in the mood for something between two slices of bread, there’s also homemade roast beef and steak sandwiches and a burger with your choice of extras. Naturally, there’s a slight Mediterranean bent as well (hey, we’re still in Israel) with appetizers and salads such as two types of tomato salads (named after two mystery women), feta cheese with olive oil, Greek salad and assorted focaccias.
Happy hour runs from 7-9 pm, a great time to enjoy 1+1 drinks and some tunes from the 80′s (Papito’s preferred musical era).
If you’re looking for a truly local experience, Papito is definitely a hangout worth checking out.
