An Ouzeria is essentially the Greek form of the more well-known Spanish tapas bar, a place where people go at any given time of day to have a drink and a tasty snack while they converse. Fittingly, Ouzeria in Tel Aviv’s southern Florentine neighborhood is the brainchild of former Tapeo chef Avivit Priel Avichai and her partner Limor Lami, who visited a number of authentic ouzerias before opening their own.
The cuisine at Ouzeria is a hodgepodge of classic Mediterranean and fusion dishes in snack-sized portions. If you’re craving traditional Greek, there’s the sirloin souvlaki with tzatziki and skewered whole sardines. The beet ravioli come highly recommended, as well as the stir-fried shrimp with homemade sun-dried tomatoes and chili.
