Dr. Shakshuka

You could say Shakshuka is sort of the Israeli version of omelette, but that would be doing a disservice to it — in order to know shakshuka, you have to eat shakshuka, and there’s no better place start than Dr. Shakshuka in Jaffa.

Bino Gabso is the man standing behind the name, and the title “Doctor” was rightfully given to him years ago. It’s not all about shakshuka though, the restaurant specializes in the Tripoli kitchen- and offers one of the best shawarmas in Tel Aviv, great couscous and plenty of slow-cooked dishes.

The restaurant is situated in Jaffa, right next to Jaffa clock tower. Its stone walls are filled with pictures and articles and an array of pots and pans hanging adds to the wonderful happy atmosphere.
